    Shanghai-based Icicle Fashion Group has announced the acquisition of struggling French fashion label Carven. The Chinese company, which saw a retail turnover of 178 million pounds last year, issued a statement today saying it intends to “relaunch and redeploy” the Carven brand in France, China and the international market. According to the statement, the French fashion house is set to maintain its independence in terms of brand strategy and design.

    PARIS - A Paris commercial court has selected Chinese company Icicle Fashion Group to purchase French fashion house Carven.
    The brand, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy with the Paris Commercial Court in May, had been courted by other firms including Axara, Lee Cooper, Cashtex, Philippe Métivier, Market Maker and Red Luxury.
    In a statement, the Shanghai-based company, known for its eco-friendly line of men's and women's wear, said it “intends to relaunch and redeploy Carven's brand, activities and collections in France, China and the international market.”
