    Designer Brands Inc. has completed the acquisition of Keds from Wolverine Worldwide.
    "Our growing strength in owned Brands is evident, given that just twelve months ago, the athleisure category was a massive white space opportunity for us, and we now control high-quality brands across multiple price points," said Doug Howe, incoming chief executive officer and President of DSW.

  • Next taps new executive director

    High street retailer Next has named Jeremy Stakol as a new executive director, effective April 3.
    He will take on the role of group investments, acquisitions, and third-party brands director.
    Stakol was appointed as managing director of fashion and cosmetic retailer Lipsy in 2004, and following its acquisition in 2008 held the same position at parent Next.
    In his new position, Stakol will oversee investments and acquisitions in third-party brands.

  • Frasers Group completes acquisition of five JD Sports brands

    British fashion giant Frasers Group has completed its acquisition of five brands from rival JD Sports.
    The group, whose fast-growing portfolio includes Sports Direct, House of Fraser, and Jack Wills, announced in December it had reached an agreement to buy 15 brands from JD in a deal worth 47.5 million pounds.
    On Wednesday, Frasers Group confirmed it had completed the acquisition of five of the remaining seven brands: Cricket, Tessuti, Scotts, Giulio, and Choice.
    It also added that its planned acquisition of JD's Rascal Clothing brand will no longer go ahead.
